Vitamins are ‘risk to bone’
TAKING too many vitamin A pills as a supplement to diet may weaken bones, research suggests.
A study found too much of the vitamin – contained in oily fish, meat, dairy products and vegetables – can lead to osteoporosis.
Scientists at Sweden’s Gothenburg University noted major loss of bone strength in mice given up to 13 times the recommended limit for humans.
Expert Dr Ulf Lerner said: “In most cases a balanced diet is sufficient.”
