Roy heart to Art call

HARRY ARTER revealed he stepped away from Ireland “for the sake of the team”.

He broke his silence on the row with Roy Keane that saw him miss clashes with Wales and Poland.

Keane allegedly launched a foul-mouthed tirade at Arter in June for not taking part in training, although he had been advised to sit it out on medical grounds.

“I never needed an apology,” said on-loan Cardiff midfielder Arter after starting in Friday’s 0-0 draw with Denmark.

“It was more just can we put this to bed for the sake of the team.”
