CELEBRATION AIN’T TACKY SAYS MACKIE

- Mackie 4, Nelson 74

OXFORD PLYMOUTH 2 0

JAMIE MACKIE defended his right to extravagant celebration after scoring his first Oxford goal against his former club.

Muted reaction has become the norm for players who net against one-time colleagues but Mackie was having none of that, saying: “I’m in a team that’s bottom of the league and I haven’t scored a goal yet. I’m not a robot.

“I find it crazy how it comes across as disrespect. I don’t play for them now, but I do wish them all the best.”

To rub salt into Argyle’s wounds, another of their former players, Curtis Nelson (right), was also on the scoresheet.

Yann Songo’o was sent off for Argyle, whose skipper Graham Carey said: “I apologise to the fans”.
