Laur’s in top order for QEII

- BY DAVID YATES

LAURENS thrilled trainer Karl Burke in a workout yesterday morning ahead of a clash with the colts in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

PJ McDonald, sidelined by injury for the daughter of Siyoumi’s top-level successes in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown and Newmarket’s Sun Chariot Stakes, was on board as Laurens warmed up for QIPCO Day.Champions And Burke (above) said of the John Dance-owned five-time Group 1 winner: “I’m very happy with her and as long as she pulls out fine tomorrow we will supplement her for the QEII.

“Laurens has been fantastic against the fillies this year and she deserves her chance against the colts.

“She will stay in training next season, so we won’t go to the Breeders’ Cup, but that’s something we would like to look at next year.”
