ROYAL BABY ON THE WAY: HARRY

Extra joy at Eugenie’s big day

- BY BY RUSSELL MYERS Royal Correspondent in Sydney, Australia

THIS is basically the icing on the (incredibly tasteful lemon and elderflower) wedding cake.

The obvious, joyful next chapter in the glorious love story that has had even the biggest cynics swooning from the off.

It’s the news we were all waiting for – and how extra-brilliant that we didn’t even have to wait that long for it. Yay, yay and thrice yay.

(Sidenote: This is also a satisfying “one in the eye” to people making withering remarks about Meghan’s age in regards to fertility. Ha.)

There is much to look forward to. First, Meghan and Harry already look even more delighted with each other than before they were parents-to-be, despite that not seeming possible. Every time we see Harry glowing with happiness, a bit of the memory of the boy walking behind his mum’s coffin evaporates, which is good for all of us.

Second, Meghan is going to redefine maternity style.

There will probably be record numbers of people having extra kids just because she is going to show everyone how it’s done – and it would be a shame to waste that knowledge.

Last, and by no means least, Harry is just completely, obviously going to be a lovely dad. And, more importantly, a super-hot one.

This is the only thing that could have made him more attractive.

Good work all round. were at the wedding at St George’s Chapel, in Windsor Castle, which is where Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, wed in May.

Regarding the timing of their announcement, a royal aide insisted: “Harry and Meghan would never dream of stealing Eugenie and Jack’s thunder.” And the aide said that happy couple Eugenie, 28, and Jack Brooksbank, 32, were “thrilled for them both” when told about the baby.

The senior palace source said: “Everyone is hugely excited about the news. The whole family are very happy they were all able to congratulate the couple in person before they left for their first major overseas tour.” The Queen, 92, and Prince Philip, 97, Prince Charles, 69, wife Camilla, 71, Prince William, 36, and wife Kate, also 36, are all said be “delighted” about the news.
