French flash floods kill 10

-

A NUN is among at least 10 people killed in flash floods in southern France.

The elderly woman was swept away yesterday as three months’ rain fell in just six hours across the Aude, in the South West.

Her body was found near her convent in Villardonnel, near Carcassonne.

Village mayor Luciano Stella said: “She thought she was safe behind locked doors, but water burst in.”

Nine people died in Trebes. Last night 750 firefighters were trying to help people across the region.
