Robot pelvis op is UK first

A CANCER patient has undergone a “total pelvic extraction” using robotic surgery – thought to be a first in Britain.

Surgeons used four robotic arms on Dean Walter, 41, to treat his advanced rectal cancer.

Consultant surgeon Shahnawaz Rasheed said it was “minimally invasive” way of removing diseased organs and tissue.
