‘Hospital bed was blocked for 368 days’

-

A PATIENT spent more than a year blocking a hospital bed, according to a watchdog.

Social services and health bosses were unable to come up with a suitable discharge package for him.

The patient at Chirk Community Hospital was there for 368 days, North Wales Community Health Council found.

The report raises serious concerns over bed capacity and staffing levels at hospitals covering Bangor and Wrexham.

The report said: “Delayed transfers of care is increasingly a factor. We see little evidence of progress.”

The hospital insisted the 368-day figure did not match its records.
