Saudis ‘set to admit killing’ claim
Jamal Khashoggi A MISSING journalist was probably murdered during an attempted abduction to take him to Saudi Arabia.
A snatch squad, unaware of Jamal Khashoggi’s poor health, is believed to have killed him as he struggled to resist being taken. Saudi critic Khashoggi, 60, was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, on October 2.
The Turks say they have recorded evidence he was murdered from Khashoggi’s Apple watch. But a Mirror source claimed they would have bugged the building. Turkish investigators were due to search the consulate yesterday.
Last night CNN sources claimed the Saudis were set to admit killing Mr Khashoggi by accident. US President Donald Trump, who threatened “serious” consequences over the disappearance, claimed “rogue killers” may be behind the mystery.
Saudi King Salman has ordered an investigation. But a former intelligence officer said: “The Saudi policy of denying everything is the way Putin responds to accusations.”
