- BY OLIVER MILNE

PIONEER Pierre Kompany MANCHESTER City captain Vincent Kompany’s father has been voted in as Belgium’s first black mayor.

Pierre Kompany, 71, who fled persecution in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1975, will lead the council in Ganshoren, a suburb of Brussels.

Vincent and brother Francois, a professional player in Belgium, hailed the milestone as “historical” in a video.

Vincent, 32, capped 84 times for his country, also wrote: “History! We are so proud of you, dad.

“Came over from the DR Congo, as a refugee, in 1975. Now gained the trust of your community becoming the first black elected mayor in Belgium.

“It was long overdue but it’s progress.

“Massive congrats!” LOOKS like Coronation Street star Alison King has that loving – or laughing – feeling as she and her lunch date share a joke.

The 45-year-old actress, who plays Carla Connor in the soap, looked relaxed and happy as they dined out together in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, before leaving the restaurant hand in hand.

On screen, Carla has man trouble in the shape of her business partner Peter Barlow, played by Chris Gascoyne, 50.

Barlow is suspending Underworld staff and rumours are he may soon quit himself, which might leave Carla a cami-sole trader.
