DAWSON KO OPENS DOOR TO DENLY

- FROM DEAN WILSON

JOE DENLY’S year just got even better after he was summoned to Sri Lanka as a replacement for the injured Liam Dawson.

Denly, 32, had already been named for the Test squad to play three matches following the one-day series, but now Kent’s leg-spinning batsman (left) is due to arrive tomorrow to be available for the last two ODIs.

All-rounder Dawson, who bowls left arm spin, has impressed coach Trevor Bayliss with his attitude and appetite for international cricket. His chances have been few but he would have provided back up to Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid.
