Gib Gib hooray

IN 1991, I was part of a Crystal Palace team that played the Gibraltar national team on an astroturf pitch next to their airport runway – we actually had to wait for a plane to take off before we could cross to the ground. It’s a trip that has always stuck with me – and I want to congratulate Gibraltar for their first international victory as full members of UEFA after they beat Armenia away in Yerevan on Saturday.
