TV presenter Piers Morgan has provoked a storm by questionin­g the masculinit­y of men who use baby carriers.

The Good Morning Britain host lashed out at James Piers Morgan Bond, tweeting of Daniel Craig, 50, using one to carry his weeks-old baby daughter: “Oh 007.. not you as well?! #papoose #emasculate­dBond”. Here two parenting writers take sides...

As any hands-on dad will tell you, half the battle of parenting is trying to get done all the things you did before you became a parent – while holding more than you could have imagined possible.

The problem is you accumulate stuff at an unstoppabl­e rate. It’s almost impossible to do anything without loading buggies, bags and covering your child in layers of clothes.

Things like getting on and off rush-hour public transport and personal admin require the same level of planning as Brexit.

As with so much of parenting everything is so much easier with a sleeping child. Enter the miracle baby carrier or papoose.

Now you can spend upward of £1,000 on a designer buggy with off-road wheels and satnav but unless you live in a sparsely populated town with double-width pavements it’s just not practical.
