Strangers in vet send-off
AROUND 250 strangers turned up at the funeral of an Army veteran who died with no surviving family.
Former Marine David Maclaren Kerr got a proper send-off at Emstrey Crematorium, Shrewsbury, after a national appeal.
The 90-year-old lived in a Newtown nursing home and died on September 7.
Phil Gilby, a former Corps Regimental Sergeant Major in the Marines, from Exmouth, said: “[We] class ourselves as a family and look after each other.”
