Petrol fireball kills BBQ man
A MAN who tried to light his barbecue with petrol died after being engulfed in flames, an inquest heard.
Irvine Potter, 66, suffered burns to 32% of his body as petrol vapour ignited in windy conditions in June, causing a flashback.
The dad-of-two, of Aldeburgh, Suffolk, patted out the flames but died in hospital two days later.
Assistant coroner Kevin McCarthy warned starting barbecues with petrol was “highly dangerous”.
Verdict: Accident.
