Shun tax avoiders
■ I must agree with many others that it’s more than shameful that so many big companies use various ways to avoid paying their taxes (Your Voice, Oct 15).
It makes my blood boil at times, especially when the Chancellor tells us he is not receiving all the tax revenues he’s expecting.
There is one way of stopping them – boycott their products. This would no doubt upset a lot of people, but there’s almost always an alternative product to be had. These firms would then be forced to pay up or lose all that custom. John Hutchison Ipswich
■ Having watched one of the programmes about our emergency services recently, am I the only one who thinks the people who take the 999 calls are unappreciated? They do an amazing job but seem to get lots of abuse from callers. I really feel they should get more recognition. Peter Brown, Pevensey Bay, East Sussex
