Dickinson proves he’s no antique at 77, working up a sweat at ITV party

David after the ITV party and, right, before it HE may be well into his 70s but David Dickinson shows he is still a party animal as he leaves an ITV bash looking decidedly sweaty. And the ex-Bargain Hunt host, who clearly enjoyed himself at the Palooza Party in London on Tuesday, has revealed he is still a hit with the ladies. The 77-year-old said he receives “saucy” fan mail from admirers ranging from “pensioners to young people”. “It’s a real bloody mixture,” he said of his loyal fan base. I do get saucy fan mail, over the years I have always had something like that. “You just take it as part and parcel of what you do.
“I am very grateful I am still on TV and entertaining people and making people happy. “I’ve been very fortunate to get some long-running fans with me of all ages. I think it is because of being me... Just being me.”
Speaking of his dayglow tan, which he describes as “olive”, David says: “This is my colour and like my friend on Celebrity Juice [Keith Lemmon] says... ‘I like a f***ing good holiday!’”
Following the axing of BBC’s Flog It! David – whose catchphrases include “What a bobby dazzler” – admits he is concerned about the future of David Dickinson’s Real Deal, after it was cut from 80 episodes a year to 50.
“They have got so many shows now in the afternoon,” he says of ITV.
“The worst thing is that even the repeats are doing very well. That is never a good thing.
“I think once a station has made their decision to change their daytime formula, they do it. You know what this business is like, it’s like, ‘You have been great for us David. P*ss off ’.
“When that happens, you just go on to something else.”
