Couple live after ignoring ‘stay-put’
A GRENFELL couple survived after agreeing their own safety code to run in event of a fire – ignoring stay-put advice.
Petra Doulova had lived on the 20th floor with her husband for 20 years and made it down the smoke-logged stairwell on June 14, 2017, the Grenfell Inquiry heard. Mrs Doulova had a bag of vital documents ready in the flat and told the hearing: “We thought ‘if there’s a fire, as soon as we can get out, the better’.”
Others on the 20th floor died that night.
