Plastic waste to be burned
CHINA has said it will no longer take the UK’s “mixed plastic”, found in items such a yoghurt pots.
This is forcing councils to end recycling and send thousands of tons of waste for incineration.
Basingstoke and Dean Council and Southampton City Council, Hants, are understood to be the first to shut recycling banks.
Greenpeace’s Louise Edge said: “For too long we’ve asked others to pay the environmental costs of our addiction to plastic.”
