Cleared.. but fan gets 3yrs

A ROMA fan was yesterday cleared of inflicting GBH on a Liverpool supporter but jailed for three years.

A jury found Filippo Lombardi, 21, not guilty of the assault which caused dad-of-three Sean Cox brain damage before a Champions League game.

But Lombardi, of Rome, was sentenced for violent disorder he had admitted before his trial began at Preston crown court.

Judge Mark Brown told him: “Your purpose was to cause a violent clash.”
