Pocket

- BY DAVE MASTERS

Pocket lets you save down anything you see on the web to read or listen to offline when you have more time.

The idea is if you notice an article online – such as a long read on The Mirror website or app – you can download it for later. And Pocket can then turn the text into audio so you can sit back and listen just like a podcast if you don’t fancy reading. The listen back feature is among a host of upgrades which have just been made to Pocket. They include new layouts, colours and fonts to make the app easier on the eyes.

The basic version is free and works across many devices, so you can dip in and out on your phone or desktop.

It also recommends content from across the internet which you might like, based on the stuff you’ve previously downloaded.
