DOCUMENTARY
MAKING A MURDERER Netflix
When original documentary series Making A Murderer first hit screens in 2015 it became an international sensation, eventually going on to be nominated for six Emmys, winning four.
It followed the Steven Avery murder trial in Wisconsin. Avery had served 18 years in prison after being wrongfully convicted of sexual assault and attempted murder, before being fully exonerated by DNA evidence in 2003.
But in 2005 he was arrested for the murder of a photographer and jailed in 2007. His nephew, Brendan Dassey, was also charged over the killing.
In this hugely-anticipated second series, filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos return to the Midwest where they have exclusive access to Avery and Dassey, their families and the legal teams fighting for justice on their behalf.
Expect an in-depth look at the highstakes post-conviction process, exploring the emotional toll it takes on everyone involved.
