Sellers paying for fake rave web reviews
SHOPPERS are being duped by fake online reviews written to get freebies, a probe has revealed.
Which? found examples of sellers offering free or discounted products and even payment in exchange for rave write-ups on influential Facebook groups,
Some have a reach of up to 87,000 members.
Which? found traders telling reviewers which items to buy via Amazon, how long to wait before a write-up and urging them to share the link.
Alex Neill, of Which?, said: “Sellers are effectively ripping people off with paid-for reviews. They don’t represent an honest and impartial opinion...”
Facebook and Amazon said they have “strict rules” to prevent bogus reviews.
