One-on-one chats with Silva instils the Blues with belief

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

MARCO SILVA has revealed he has one-on-one chats with his Everton players to boost their self-confidence.

Silva feels some of his players lack belief, but his tete-a-tetes are paying off. The Blues can record three successive Premier League wins for the first time in 18 months if they beat Crystal Palace at home tomorrow.

“We did well signing players with quality in the summer, but we already had players inside the club with quality,” said the Goodison Park boss.

“However, some of them don’t always believe how good they are. Good results and good performances help them believe, but I’m here to support them and show them they have quality.

“If I have to speak to them one on one

I will do that.

“Sometimes I’ll do it in a training session because we are there on the pitch and we can do everything.

“But if I have to do it in individual meetings, then I will do that as well.”

Michael Keane,

Gylfi Sigurdsson and Tom Davies are three of the main beneficiaries of Silva’s chats and they have all stepped up recently. “I am seeing an improvement,” added Silva.

“I hope they keep believing and I hope our fans keep believing in our players and keep supporting them as much as they can.

“With our boys working hard during the match and our fans supporting them, we can make it difficult for our opponents.” Tuesday marks the first anniversary of Ronald Koeman’s sacking, and Everton have moved on from the chaos and infighting of last season.

Silva claims the key is unity at the club – between him, the players, the fans and the board.

“It’s really important that we go on this journey together,” said the Portuguese.

“We will have some fantastic Saturdays and Sundays, then sometimes we will not achieve what we want.

“But it’s important that we are together every moment, because together we are stronger.”
