Time ticking on BST as EU plans to stop clock change
THE EU is considering plans to scrap British Summer Time.
The European Commission has proposed a regulation banning member states from observing daylight saving time, which would put a stop to the clocks changing in summer and winter.

The UK must oppose the law before Brexit’s two-year transition period begins on March 29. A Lords report said it is a breach of EU rules.
Lord Whitty, chairman of the Lords EU Internal Market Sub-Committee, explained: “The European Commission’s proposal to end seasonal time changes goes beyond its remit.”
The Lords will decide whether to oppose the directive in a debate on Wednesday. Britain has eight weeks to object.
Advocates say clock changes stop children walking to school in the dark and also help reduce traffic accidents.
