Anti-EU colleagues savage PM BREXIT TORIES THREATEN TO KILL OFF MAY
BELEAGUERED Theresa May faces a crunch showdown with MPs today amid warnings she is in “the killing zone” and should “bring her own noose” to a meeting.
The PM is battling to save her premiership following last week’s EU summit, at which she agreed to consider delaying Brexit in a bid to unlock stalled talks.
The move triggered an unprecedented series of ugly attacks.
An ally of David Davis, the ex-Brexit Secretary and possible future leader, claimed Mrs May was entering “the killing zone”.
One who wants to topple her added: “Assassination is in the air.”
A former minister said: “There is a growing consensus that she’s utterly hopeless. The moment is coming when the knife gets heated, stuck in her front and twisted. She’ll be dead soon.”
Later this week, Mrs May faces being hauled before the party’s 1922 Committee.
One senior Brexiteer said: “She should bring her own noose to the 22.”
But Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: “Few disagree with her more than I do, but language like this debases politics.
Get a grip, Tories.”
The PM will tell MPs, “95% of the Withdrawal Agreement and its protocols are now settled”.
