Arctic blast to bring snow by end of Friday
Star & pal in LA crowd BAAUTIFUL Sunrise and Dorset sheep MAKE the most of the warm weather this week, as the first snow is forecast for the weekend.
Temperatures are set to stay at an unseasonably high 18C in many parts of the UK until midweek, while many kids are enjoying their half term break.
But an Arctic blast is on the way bringing snow, galeforce winds and wintry showers for Scotland and the North by the end of Friday. The mercury is set to fall to 8C in the North and 10C in the South.
The Met Office’s Luke Miall said: “The message is make the most of it while it lasts. An Arctic Maritime Air Mass is coming down and we will see a plunge in temperatures.”
Yesterday much of the South basked in 19C heat and a glorious sunrise was snapped over fields in west Dorset.
Meteorologist Sarah Kent warned the cold blast will be “a shock to the system”.
She said: “It will be time to get the woolly hats out.” NHS Trusts are bracing themselves for a worse winter than last, when the system struggled to cope.
NHS Providers said there are “clear warning signs” as Trusts face more staff shortages this winter and extra funding is not in place.
