Funds plea by family of killed boxer

MURDERED Ian Tomlin THE family of a dad battered to death outside his home are trying to raise money for his funeral and a boxing gym.

Council worker and examateur boxer Ian Tomlin, 46, was killed last week in Battersea, South London.

Now the dad of two’s family want to raise £80,000 to pay for his burial and a foundation to open a boxing academy.

In a statement, his family said: “We want Ian’s name to be remembered for something other than the man who was killed... we want his name to be remembered for the great man that he was.”

Two men charged with his murder appeared at Wimbledon magistrate­s court on Saturday and were remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey.
