This is my uncle, James Perry, known as “big Jim” to his siblings. He was a Royal Naval Chief Petty Officer during the Second World War and died in June 1944 during the Normandy landings, going down with his ship, RM48 Commando.

Sadly, I don’t remember him, as I was only two when war broke out, but he was my father’s eldest brother and I know he looked up to him. Pete Perry Stevenage Herts
