JACK COPS CUP PLACE FOR FORCE
NON-LEAGUE ROUND-UP
METROPOLITAN POLICE showed they were a force to be reckoned with by booking a surprise spot in tonight’s FA Cup first round draw (7pm).
The seventh-tier Southern League outsiders beat National League outfit Havant & Waterlooville 1-0 thanks to Jack Mazzone’s fine strike.
Leyton Orient failed to make the first round for the first time in 101 years after going down 2-0 at Maidstone.
But the fairytale had an unhappy ending for the lowest-ranked team in the fourth qualifying round, as ninth-tier Dunston UTS lost 4-0 to National League Gateshead.
And eighth-tier duo Kidsgrove Athletic lost 1-0 at Hartlepool, while Winchester City were thumped 4-1 at Torquay.
