I can relate to the lady who wrote to you about her child being terrified of balloons (Coleen, Oct 12).

I also don’t like to be in the same room as them and, over the years, have had to put up with mindless people thinking it’s funny to squeeze and squeak balloons in my face.

I have learnt to walk away and my fear has eased somewhat, but I am 70 years old now.

Most people have a fear of something.

I’d advise the lady to do what is right by her child and not to worry about what the other mums think. Elaine, via email
