Dad died failing to save kids

THE dad of 17 who died with five of his kids was trying to save them from a house fire, an inquest heard.

David Cuthbertson, 68, perished with Just, 11, Reef, 10, Misty, nine, Patch, six, and Gypsy, four, in the October 2017 inferno.

Investigators said temperatures at Poityn Farm in Llangammarch Wells, Powys, had topped 1000C.

Recording a narrative verdict, Mid-Wales coroner Andrew Barkley said all of the victims had died from inhalation of fire fumes.

He added: “What we cannot say is what caused the fire to start.”
