TOP Gear fans are not impressed after Paddy McGuinness and Andrew Flintoff were put in the driving seat as main presenters.

Take Me Out host McGuinness and ex-cricketer Flintoff, nicknamed Freddie, will take the wheel after Matt LeBlanc leaves next year.

They will make up a trio with motoring journalist Chris Harris.

Rory Reid, the BBC2 show’s previous co-presenter, will now front companion show Extra Gear.

McGuinness, 45, said: “To host a show I’ve loved from being a small boy is beyond exciting.”

Flintoff, 40, said: “It’s not often you have the chance to do both your dream jobs, but I’m now lucky enough to say I will have.”

But fan Gareth Reynolds said the news was “proof the BBC don’t have a clue about their audience”.

Mark Amies said: “It used to be a programme about motoring. Now it appears to be a pure entertainment show. Strictly Come Driving.”

Bookie William Hill offered odds of just 2-1 that the pair will only host one series. They take over after LeBlanc’s final series which will air early next year.
