Today’s photo shows pro-democracy protestors in Budapest burning pictures of Russian leader Stalin at the start of the Hungarian Revolution. Police cars were set on fire, guns were seized from military depots and symbols of the Communist regime were torn down. As the violence spread, the communist government requested support from Russia and Soviet tanks entered the capital on November 4.
