March shows the depth of EU divide
■ SURELY the best way to guarantee and maintain a peaceful co-existence with our neighbours would be for Britain to remain in the EU?
And the only possible way to achieve this would be to hold another referendum now the facts and implications have been made much clearer and the abundant lies peddled by the 2016 Leave campaign have been exposed.
That is why 700,000 people marched in London at the weekend.
A deal or no-deal choice alone would be pointless and dangerous – one of the options must be whether to remain in the EU.
Accusations that a second referendum would be undemocratic are misguided. How could any ballot of the population be described in this way? But making an irreversible decision based on a vote that was manipulated by untruths would certainly be an affront to democracy. Jim Creasey, North London
■ I believe in the right to protest, but the British people voted to leave the EU. Calling for a second referendum to overturn the result of the referendum is undemocratic and an insult to those who voted. What happens if Remain had won in 2016? Would Leave voters hold protests? I think they would accept the result and keep calm and carry on.

■ The English, not British, Conservatives have never been interna- tionally inclined, except as imperialists. They had to put aside their “little Englander” inclinations when we joined the EU, in a partnership that has given us the greatest prosperity, for all our people, in our history.
The ill-advised EU referendum has given a minority, whipped up by eurosceptic politicians, the appearance of a right to disregard the will of those who wish to stay in the EU and committed us to an isolationist future of unregulated employment conditions and oligarchic power . James McGrory, North West London ■ Over 17 million of us voted to leave the EU, the question had nothing to do with how we leave this bureaucratic, bloated organisation. Yet instead of standing together as a country, fear and doubt are ripping us apart. When united, Britain’s spirit will triumph over all, as we saw in 1939. We will survive, but we must unite now. If an agreement is not possible, we must leave in March and follow the WTO rules. Politicians must be brave and firm and follow the will of the people.
Robin G Howard, Margate
■ Brexit is a lame duck. No one has come up with anything that would be anywhere near as what we already have through the EU.
Now we have all read and researched and found out the truth, the only logical way ahead is to put up our hands and say ‘No’ to any sort of Brexit.
Geoff Butler, Shrewsbury
■ The sooner we are out of the corrupt and undemocratic EU the better, in my view. Theresa May is a complete waste of space as a Prime Minister. Just get on and do your job, Theresa, instead of pussy footing around.
