Fallon’s £75k from Riyadh investor
FORMER Defence Secretary Michael Fallon is pocketing £788 an hour from one of the biggest investors in Saudi Arabia, it emerged yesterday.
The Tory MP declared he will be paid £6,300 for eight hours of work by Investcorp each month – a total of £75,600 a year – in the latest register of member interests.
The firm is a Bahrain-listed asset manager with an office of 15 in Saudi capital Riyadh.
Advisory board chairman Mohammed Alardhi has spoken of Investcorp’s “deep roots” in Saudi Arabia and praised crisis-hit Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Lib Dem spokeswoman Christine Jardine said Mr Fallon should consider quitting over “Saudi Arabia’s appalling disregard for human rights”.
Mr Fallon did not respond to a request for comment.
