Loose Woman star Denise Welch’s son Matty Healy says he apologised to her for his heroin addiction.
The 1975 frontman went into rehab after spending four years smoking the drug “daily”.
He reveals: “I just wanted to apologise to my mum. You can’t be a parent and have that kind of thing out there and not think, ‘Well, why didn’t I..’
“You think it’s your fault. When it’s completely not.”
Matty, 29, whose dad is Benidorm star Tim Healy, checked into rehab in Barbados on Halloween last year “because it’s a long swim from London” . In Q magazine, he says he has quit heroin as well as alcohol.
And he admits the drug made him “a worse writer, person, friend, partner, son”.
Matty credits “horse therapy”, where he befriended a stallion called Favor, for helping him through his withdrawal.
