The Silent treatment

Olly pays for Cowell snub

-

He risked Simon Cowell’s wrath, so now Olly Murs is getting the cold shoulder.

The former X Factor star says the pair are not on speaking terms after he turned down a judging panel spot.

The Mirror revealed in June that Olly was offered a £3million contract, but wanted to stay as a coach on The Voice.

The X Factor opted for Robbie Williams instead. Olly explains: “I have so much respect for Simon and it was difficult to tell him no – I’m not sure we’re on talking terms.

“I felt I had such a great time on The Voice, why would I leave after one year? I felt I did an incredible job last year and I’m very proud of that.” Viewing figures rose with Olly on board and the headhunting paid off – he got a pay rise.

He adds: “It was a good move. I said to Simon, ‘It’s not a no for ever.’”

He releases album You Know I Know on November 9, and adds cheekily: “If we can beat the X Factor viewing figures, that would be amazing.”

He really isn’t going to be on Cowell’s Christmas card list...
