Blame Tories, not Beeb
■ All those people who complained about the BBC proposing to scrap the over-75s’ free TV licence need to remember who is responsible for it – the Tories (Your Voice, October 22). Don’t blame the BBC for a government policy.
Those who say the BBC should accept advertising should remember this could endanger the corporation’s impartiality – advertisers might be able to dictate what programmes are shown, as I believe they do with some of the commercial channels.
With 95% of TV programmes these days being rubbish, we need to take back control.
