Skoda will reveal a new compact hatchback model before the end of the year. It’ll be called the Scala – which is Italian for stairs.

The car will also be the first Skoda to have badging on its rear that spells out the company name rather than just a Skoda logo.

The Scala effectively replaces the current Rapid and will take on the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra in a more convincing manner than its somewhat pointless predecessor.
