Benefit ‘fails vulnerable’, Tory admits

-

A TORY mental health chief has admitted her party’s rollout of universal credit risks “failing” the “most vulnerable in our society”.

Glasgow MSP Annie Wells said many of her constituents were worried about the benefit changes.

Ms Wells said: “The most vulnerable in our society need to be reassured. To not do so, runs the risk of failing those who the system set out to support.”

SNP MSP George Adam said the new benefit was “a disaster – forcing families to rely on foodbanks”.

The Mirror is campaigning to stop the rollout of universal credit and replace it with a fairer system.
