£1.06m cost of a lifetime

THE average Brit spends £1.06million over a lifetime, an online calculator reveals.

That includes £308,500 for food and soft drinks, £417,600 on mortgages or rent and £200,000 on just getting around.

The cost is the amount we will have paid by 80, the average life expectancy age in Britain, the online tool by home interior experts hillarys.co.uk shows.

Spokeswoman Tara Hall said: “Some of the results are certainly shocking.”
