Don’t let Valerie just fade away
HOMELESS Valerie Collins and her pram Valerie Collins was a mother and grandmother. She made a small garden of potted plants outside local shop entrances to cheer the place up. Her body was found in a car park in Peterborough in March.
She was just one of the estimated 468 homeless people to have died in the last year and whose deaths, shockingly, went officially unrecorded.
Well, that is now changing, thanks to the groundbreaking work of the Bureau Of Investigative Journalism.
Their efforts to find out what happened to people like Valerie have ensured the Office for National Statistics will release its own estimate figures later this year. #MakeThemCount
