■ Am I alone thinking Maureen Lipman’s Corrie character Evelyn Plummer – Tyrone Dobbs’ grandma – isn’t working? She seems a misfit floating briefly in and out of scenes without any depth, merely coming out with cynical one-liners.

Maureen is a great actress but unless the writers serve up some heart-warming dialogue and integrate her into storylines more realistically, there’s no point to her being there.

■ BBC1’s new comedy panel show For Facts Sake is amusing and showcases host Brendan O’Carroll’s talents. He proves he can step aside from his Mrs Brown character and still provide laughs. The addition of celebrity cameos also helps by adding glamour. Gary Tutton, Welwyn Garden City, Herts
