SPURS ARE LOOKING TO ROPE A POPE
TOTTENHAM are keeping tabs on Burnley’s goalkeeping headache as they consider a move for Nick Pope. Pope (below) starred for Burnley last season after replacing the injured Tom Heaton before breaking into the England squad and going to the World Cup.
He is on the way back from a dislocated shoulder injury and when he returns the Clarets, who brought in Joe Hart during the summer, will have a dilemma on their hands with three fit England keepers battling for top spot. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to give current No.1 Hugo Lloris stiffer competition. And his chances of landing Pope will increase if the 26-year-old is unable to force his way back into Burnley’s first-team picture.
