A big win for local team sponsorship
Back in September last year, I was both confused and delighted to hear that the band Sleaford Mods were sponsoring Seven Sisters AFC Under-9’s football team. Confused because Sleaford Mods are from Nottingham and Seven Sisters is in my home borough of Neath Port Talbot. Delighted because... well, you just don’t expect to see eight- year-old Welsh boys running round a cold, wet pitch in Neath with an English punk hip-hop band’s name across the front of their kit!
So, inspired by Sleaford Mods, when the Goytre Girls & Ladies Football teams got in touch looking for sponsorship, I was happy to help. It’s not quite the same running round with my name on the kit though, so the fantastic Port Talbot & Afan Women’s Aid will take pride of place instead. Go on, Goytre! Anyone else?
