The need to tweed

-

There are a lot of really good style terms that go with tweed. Timeless, stylish, elegant, the humble fabric ticks a lot of fashion boxes.

And it’s back in a big way this season.

Making a comeback after maternity leave, the Duchess of Cambridge, 36, wore a rather beautiful tweed Erdem dress to a photography exhibition at the V&A recently. With a purple satin ribbon tie, the off-the-shoulder gown was quite splendid.

Meanwhile in LA, actress Gillian Anderson, 50, proved tweed works on the red carpet when she showcased a Victoria Beckham dress at a showbiz lunch.

And for further proof investing in this textile is a good idea, check out Yasmin Le Bon, 53, in the holy grail of tweed – a Chanel jacket. With a pair of fishnet tights, she looks tres chic – but in a very modern way. Add a pair of bonkers glasses and you’ll be on your way.
