Bus driver ran over man and then drove off

A BUS driver who crushed a pedestrian against a car then left him for dead has been jailed for 16 months.

Peter Johns had tried to squeeze past Mark Scott, as he stood in front of the vehicle, a court heard.

Mr Scott, 50, was left with a shattered pelvis, broken feet, a ruptured bowel and bladder injuries.

Johns, 62, carried on his route in Swindon, Wilts, ignoring shocked passengers’ shouts to stop, until pulled over by police.

Prosecutor Colin Meeke, told Swindon crown court: “Susan Parker heard the driver say: ‘I told him twice to move, he said no’.”

Johns, of Highworth, Wilts, admitted causing serious injury through dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident in February.
