THE Thai schoolboys saved after 17 days trapped in a cave will be reunited with their rescuers at our Pride of Britain Awards tonight.

The reunion will be the highlight of a trip which has seen the 12 young footballers watch Manchester United at home after meeting boss

Jose Mourinho.

The Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with TSB, will honour the boys’ rescuers, John Volanthen, Jason Mallinson, Chris Jewell,

Josh Bratchley and Connor Roe.

Prince Charles and David Beckham will surprise other winners of the awards, hosted by Carol Vorderman, which celebrate our nation’s unsung heroes.

Prime Minister Theresa May will also take part, and said: “From incredible acts of bravery to decades of community service, this year’s winners have all made a life-changing impact in their local communities and beyond through their compassion and determination. “It’s humbling to hear these stories of seemingly ordinary people doing extraordinary things, and I feel privileged to be able to offer them my congratulations.

“Thank you for your inspirational courage and selflessness – your strength of spirit is an example to us all.”

The awards, held at the Grosvenor House in Park Lane, Central London, will be attended by more than 100 of the nation’s biggest stars, all there to honour people whose amazing achievements show the best of the human spirit.

Celebrities, including Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field, Holly Willoughby, Freddie Flintoff, Sir Cliff Richard, and the Strictly Come Dancing cast, will be in the audience to hear inspiring stories of courage, devotion and selflessness.

The 2018 winners, revealed in the Mirror today, include Edward Mills, from Gloucestershire, who, aged only eight, became the youngest person to climb the 450ft Old Man of Hoy sea stack.

He completed the terrifying feat to raise money for Climbers Against Cancer, after his mum Bekki had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Sadly, Bekki died two months ago, aged 38.

Another winner, Ella Chadwick, who was born with a rare illness that causes kidney failure and received a donor organ from her grandma, now works tirelessly to raise funds for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
