Diabetics are dying earlier

FIVE hundred diabetics are dying early every week in England and Wales.

Charity Diabetes UK has warned many of these deaths come from avoidable complications, such as stroke or heart disease.

Chief executive Chris Askew said: “It’s vital the NHS funds improvements in care beyond 2019.”

Both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics are more likely to die earlier than someone without the condition, which affects around four million people in the UK.
